Michael stated on his Oprah interview that if he was interviewing Michael Angelo that he would ask questions about his art, making direct comment that what most interviewers focus on were rumours and not him and his talent.
It did not seem that Oprah picked up on this because she went on to ask further rumour related questions.
The majority of the interviews that I have seen since Michael was an established solo artist, have focused on the rumours and accusations which he said were incorrect. So instead of him discussing his art, recent work or marriage, he defended himself against these false accusations which took up the majority of many interviews; and did nothing to dispel the accusations.
I have found some interviews in which the interviewers dealt with the man as an artist.

- No rumours mentioned
- They were positive interviews
- Michael focused and his art
- He discusses that his favorite videos are Thriller and Smooth Criminal
- Even though some of the content of the songs in relation to the albums relates to concerns Michael had, that was not the focus of the interviews
- You can see that Michael appeared comfortable and I assume enjoyed the interview
- He discusses the people he worked with and the people (even if deceased) that he would have liked to have worked with
- He discussed that he liked to be directly involved with the making of the videos, the concept etc.
- He discusses how songs are presented to him and discusses how other artists are approached. Interesting background information. [Notably not covered in the Oprah interview]
- How come we don’t know how he worked? Where is the documentary solely on this subject – that is something I would like to watch, how Michael wrote his songs, and the whole background from writing to short movie, a step by step walk through with him talking about it.
- Maybe a family member could do the story from the inside, so it is not distorted.
